ATEX 2014/34/EU Certification: Safe Pneumatic Actuation for Hazardous Zones
Understanding explosion-proof requirements under European ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU for non-electrical equipment operating in explosive gas and dust environments.
In chemical processing plants, refineries, and offshore gas platforms, safety against explosion risks is paramount. While electrical equipment is commonly scrutinized, non-electrical mechanical valve actuators can also generate thermal ignition or friction sparks if not appropriately certified.
Huaji AT series rack & pinion and Scotch Yoke actuators are fully compliant and certified under ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU (EUROCERT Certificate No: 10.36.0532.01). Key engineering safeguards include:
1. Anti-Blowout Output Drive: The nickel-plated alloy drive shaft features an integral anti-blowout collar designed to withstand internal surge pressures up to 10 Bar.
2. Low-Friction Anti-Static Bearings: High-lubricity composite PTFE sliding bearings eliminate metal-to-metal friction sparks between pistons and the hard-anodized cylinder wall.
3. Stainless Steel Dual Stroke Adjusters: External adjustment bolts with locknuts prevent vibration loosening in extreme hazardous Zone 1 and Zone 2 installations.
